Tim Burton doesn't hide his feelings about Batman '89 in this brief but informative interview from the June 1992 issue of Details Magazine. Describing the first film as being made by a "conglomerate", it is obvious Burton felt Batman Returns would do a better job of delivering his personal take on Batman.
